I talk to a lot of guys who ask me for advice about consulting. More specifically, these are often technical IT guys struggling with the economy and dismal job market. Fed up with the lack of responses to their resumes and wary or tired of unscrupulous staffing agencies, they often ask me about becoming an independent consultant.
Unfortunately, I find that there are a lot of misconceptions.
